A1 Plastics and Boretech Signed LOI to Advance Plastic Recycling Project in Cambodia
2026-4-23
Boretech today formally signed a letter of Intent (LOI) with A1 Plastics Resources at CHINAPLAS 2026 to jointly advance Cambodia’s first food-grade PET recycling facility.
The agreement underscores both companies’ shared commitment to sustainable development and the advancement of the circular plastics economy in Southeast Asia through the integration of resources, technology, and industry expertise.
Under the terms of the LOI, the two parties will work closely on the development of A1 Plastics’ PET bottle recycling facility in Krakor District, Pursat Province, Cambodia. Boretech will provide a PET washing line, along with its technical expertise in PET recycling technologies.
According to A1 Plastics, the project officially broke ground on January 19, 2026, with a planned total investment of USD 29 million. The facility spans 45,000 square meters, of which 12,000 square meters are designated for plant construction, while the remaining land has been reserved for future expansion to support long-term growth. Upon completion, the plant will specialize in the recycling of PET beverage bottles and is expected to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Boretech, a global pioneer in plastic recycling ingenuity, will contribute its extensive experience in PET recycling industry by supplying complete turnkey solutions for PET washing system for the project. To date, Boretech has successfully delivered more than 320 recycling lines and downstream production lines across 44 countries, and this cooperation will further strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia.
The signing of the LOI not only marks the formal launch of commercial cooperation between the two companies, but also highlights growing momentum in the development of recycling infrastructure across emerging markets. Once operational, the facility is expected to significantly strengthen Cambodia’s local PET recycling capacity, supporting the recently released Plastic Action Roadmap, helping advance Cambodia’s 2040 targets of reducing plastic pollution by 74% and raising the recycling rate from 1.4% in 2022 to 11.3% by 2040.
