From bottle-to-bottle to tray-to-tray: BoReTech to showcase its latest PET recycling technologies at Fakuma 2026

2026-9-11

Food-contact PET recycling is entering a new phase, while increasingly diverse post-consumer PET feedstocks are placing higher demands on washing performance, process stability and overall plant efficiency.

Over the past year, BoReTech has commissioned a series of commercial projects in China and overseas, demonstrating how its integrated recycling technologies can process diverse post-consumer PET feedstocks for food-contact applications. From PET bottles to PET trays, these projects reflect the growing demand for advanced washing technologies capable of delivering consistently high-quality recycled PET flakes.

One of the company's latest milestones is a PET tray recycling plant operated by Suplas in Pinghu, Zhejiang Province, China. Commissioned in March 2026, the facility is designed to process 28,000 tonnes of post-consumer PET trays annually. The project adopts BoReTech's PET Tray Washing System, featuring low-loss, high-cleanliness, modular and fully automated continuous processing. By integrating material loosening, intensive hot washing, the Mega Aspirator and enhanced yield technologies, the system efficiently processes challenging tray feedstocks while delivering high PET recovery and clean food-contact PET flakes for closed-loop tray-to-tray recycling.

Another key project is a large-scale PET bottle washing line supplied to Fuhai Group, which entered stable commercial operation in May 2026. With a processing capacity of 15 tonnes per hour, With a processing capacity of 15 tonnes per hour, the project represents one of the largest food-contact PET bottle washing installations delivered by BoReTech.Designed for continuous, high-throughput operation, the system integrates label removal, contaminant separation and washing technologies to produce food-contact PET flakes for polyester sheet and bottle-grade packaging applications. The project demonstrates the value of high-efficiency washing systems in achieving both consistent product quality and large-scale recycling performance.

Internationally, BoReTech commissioned a bottle-to-bottle recycling project for Chiripal Group in India in April 2026. The installation combines the company's ES washing process, food-grade pelletising technology and solid-state polycondensation (SSP) system. Designed for an annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes, the plant produces up to 2,000 kg/h of food-contact rPET pellets, highlighting the benefits of integrated processing in terms of productivity, product quality and operational efficiency.

In Pakistan, BoReTech has also recently supplied an 8.5 tonnes-per-hour food-contact PET bottle washing line to ISMAIL, a local PET resin producer. The line has entered stable operation and supports ISMAIL's 24,000-tonne-per-year food-grade rPET project, which is designed to recycle approximately 40,000 tonnes of post-consumer PET bottles annually. The project is among the largest single-line PET bottle washing installations in Pakistan. With high-throughput washing and advanced separation technologies, the system is designed to provide a reliable supply of high-quality PET flakes for downstream food-contact rPET production, demonstrating BoReTech's capability to deliver large-scale recycling solutions tailored to international markets.

In 2023, BoReTech obtained an FDA No Objection Letter (NOL) covering the complete washing, pelletizing and SSP process. In July 2025, BoReTech obtained a further FDA NOL for its SSP process. In November 2025, BoReTech's brtCOMBIPET pelletizing and SSP combination process received a Positive Scientific Opinion from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). These regulatory milestones support the use of the process for food-contact rPET recycling in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and provide customers with additional confidence in food-grade recycling applications.

At Fakuma 2026, held from 12–16 October in Friedrichshafen, Germany, BoReTech will present its latest integrated washing technologies and complete food-contact PET recycling solutions at Hall A6, Stand 6010. The company will share practical experience from recent commercial projects and discuss with visitors how advanced washing technologies are supporting the next generation of closed-loop PET recycling—from established bottle-to-bottle systems to emerging tray-to-tray applications.
