Boretech Partners with ECC to Deliver GreenTech, the First PET Tray Washing Project in Africa and the Middle East

Boretech has recently signed a contract for GreenTech, a 4,000 kg/h PET tray washing line in Egypt. Invested by EGYPTIAN CHINESE COMPANY (ECC), the project marks the first dedicated PET tray washing project in Africa and the Middle East.The line will process post-consumer PET trays into high-quality PET flakes for tray to tray recycling, setting a new benchmark for high-value PET tray recycling in the region.

As one of Africa's leading industrial economies, Egypt has been actively advancing its circular economy initiatives in recent years. With the implementation of the new Waste Management Law and the gradual rollout of the EPR scheme, post-consumer PET trays from fresh food packaging, food packaging, and industrial logistics are becoming an important resource for plastic recycling. However, PET trays present greater recycling challenges due to their highly compacted de-baling, complex material composition, excessive adhesive labels and glue residues, and greater brittleness.As a result, the market is seeking PET tray recycling solutions capable of delivering both high recovery yields and high product cleanliness.

The project adopts Boretech's PET Tray Washing System, featuring low-loss, high-cleanliness, modular, and fully automated continuous processing. Integrating thorough aaterial loosening, intensive hot washing, Mega Aspirator, and enhanced yield technologies, the system efficiently loosens highly compacted materials while minimizing material breakage. The line is designed to deliver high PET recovery and clean PET flakes for tray to tray recycling.

ECC has long been engaged in the plastics and polyester fiber industry and is committed to continuously improving the quality and production capacity of recycled polyester products.
