Vietnam DUYTAN rPET Recycling Project

Established in 1987, DUYTAN is a leading plastic brand in Vietnam, aiming to become a leading supplier of rigid plastic packaging and daily necessities in ASEAN. Newly built in 2019, DUYTAN Plastic Recycling Company is located in Duc Hoa Ha Plastic Industrial Zone, covering an area of 65,000 ㎡. The factory has modern plastic washing and pelletizing lines, certified by ISO standard. The food-grade rPET produced complies with the US FDA and European EFSA certification requirements.

DUYTAN approached BoReTech to provide it with a complete solution of PET bottle washing line to improve the production and quality of the original PET bottle washing lines. The processing capacity of the PET bottle washing line provided by BoReTech can reach 20 ktpa. The hot washing unit adopts the latest ES process and modular design from BoReTech, with stronger washing ability and inline water circulation system, bringing food-grade rPET to customers. Recycled PET flakes are put into the food-grade pelletizing line at the later stage for use in its own beverage packaging factory.

In Vietnam, it is hot all year round. In order to care for employees and provide a good working environment, the factory put forward high requirements on the production environment. Therefore, in the layout plan provided by BoReTech, drainage pipes and tanks were specially designed for sewage discharge, replacing conventional designs such as ditches and pits in the production workshop so as to avoid direct exposure of sewage to the working environment as much as possible.

In Vietnam, the rPET industry is gradually emerging and has received support and attention from the government. With the increasing global emphasis on environmental protection and commitment to sustainable development, the widespread use of rPET can help reduce plastic waste landfills and the demand for virgin polyester. The Vietnamese government has adopted a series of policy measures to promote the development of the rPET industry, including environmental regulations, incentives, awareness raising, and international cooperation.

The project had been operational in July 2023, it has a great significance to DUYTAN. Their goal is to pursue sustainable development, by converting waste plastic bottles into rPET, reducing dependence on virgin polyester and the negative impact of waste on the environment, and creating a more sustainable social and economic model for future generations . In 2022, DUYTAN recycled over 1.3 billion plastic bottles. The amount of processed and recycled plastic bottles not only provided raw materials for large Fast Moving Consumer Goods(FMCG) partner companies in Vietnam, but also exported 4,200 tons to 12 countries including the United States and Europe. DUYTAN is also the first rigid packaging and daily necessities manufacturer in Vietnam to obtain ISCC PLUS certification which aims to certify carbon management and sustainable development organizations that perform well throughout the supply chain.

By cooperating with BoReTech to establish a rPET recycling project, not only does it meet the market demand for sustainable products, but also establishes a good corporate image for customers in the fields of sustainable development and environmental protection. The understanding and cooperative relationship between the two parties have been gradually established and deepened. Customers have given positive comments on BoReTech's technical support, service quality and cooperation attitude, laying the foundation for future cooperation.
