High-Efficiency Recycled Plastic Extrusion Pelletizing Technology – A Key Component of Boretech's PET Bottle-to-Bottle Process

2025-6-17

Against the backdrop of the global push for a plastic circular economy, the efficient and high-quality recycling of waste PET bottles has become a focal point in the industry. As a critical step in the "bottle-to-bottle" recycling system, extrusion pelletizing directly determines whether recycled PET materials can meet food-grade application standards. Leveraging years of technical expertise in PET recycling, Boretech has developed an FDA-certified food-grade extrusion pelletizing system, which has been successfully implemented in numerous food-grade projects worldwide, establishing itself as a recognized industry benchmark.

Boretech's extrusion pelletizing system employs single-screw or conical twin-screw designs, offering flexible adaptation to different pretreatment processes. Its specially designed screw structure features high torque and low thermal stress, ensuring melt stability while effectively controlling the residence time of raw materials in the machine to mitigate thermal degradation risks. The large-thread feeding section is tailored for the low bulk density of PET bottle flakes, enabling smoother material feeding. The system integrates multi-stage venting devices and an efficient vacuum system to thoroughly remove moisture and volatile organic small molecules, preventing issues such as bubbles, discoloration, and viscosity reduction in the melt (or pellets). The entire screw system delivers excellent mixing uniformity while demonstrating outstanding energy efficiency.

In the pelletizing stage, Boretech offers multiple solutions, including die-face cutting and strand pelletizing, equipped with continuous screen changers for uninterrupted filtration to effectively remove melt impurities. The optional online crystallization system provides significant advantages: it requires no external energy, achieving up to 50% energy savings. The pelletizing system operates quietly with minimal steam emissions, ensuring a favorable production environment. Additionally, the long-lasting blades produce pellets with stable morphology and superior color performance, directly meeting the requirements for food-grade preform manufacturing.

Boretech  successfully obtained an FDA No Objection Letter (NOL) on February 17, 2023, covering the complete wash-pelletize-SSP process (C-G application conditions). This made it the first company in Asia to receive FDA certification for food-grade PET bottle-to-bottle recycling. Recently, Boretech has again independently secured FDA NOL approval for its SSP process, further improving IV values and reducing acetaldehyde content to fully meet the high standards of bottle-to-bottle recycling. This solution has already been successfully implemented in multiple international food-grade projects, helping clients achieve efficient food-grade rPET production.

From bottle flakes to food-grade preforms, Boretech drives high-value plastic resource recycling through mature and stable technological pathways. Moving forward, we will continue to focus on core bottle-to-bottle PET technologies, collaborating with global partners to provide robust support for building an efficient and sustainable plastic circular system.
