Boretech Celebrates Another Milestone! Its SSP rPET Process Receives FDA Non-Objection Letter

2025-6-10

On July 3, 2025, Boretech officially received a Non-Objection Letter (NOL) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Solid State Polymerization (SSP) process used in recycled polyester (rPET) production.

This NOL confirms that rPET processed through Boretechs SSP technology can be used at 100% levels for manufacturing food-contact packaging containers under B-H conditions, covering all food types. This represents authoritative recognition of Boretechs technical approach in ensuring both the safety and high performance of rPET for food-contact applications.

The Critical Role of Boretechs SSP Technology

Solid State Polymerization (SSP) is a core process for enhancing rPET quality, delivering:

Increased Molecular Weight & Thermal Stability Restores material properties close to virgin PET levels.

Effective Impurity Removal Significantly reduces residual contaminants (e.g., acetaldehyde, VOCs) for superior material purity.

Reliable Performance Ensures rPET can safely withstand demanding food-contact scenarios, including hot-fill and long-term storage applications.

Why Does the FDA NOL Matter?

The FDA imposes extremely stringent requirements for food-grade recycled materials. An NOL is not just a market-access permit but also validates the entire recycling process, particularly deep decontamination and performance-enhancing technologies. Due to its proven effectiveness in reducing contamination risks and ensuring product consistency, SSP has become a must-have technology for leading global companies seeking FDA NOL approval.

Boretechs Continued Breakthroughs

Previously, Boretech secured an FDA NOL covering its full-process recycling system (C-G conditions), including washing, pelletizing, and SSP. This latest B-H condition NOL for SSP alone further solidifies Boretechs core technological innovation and process reliability.

Looking Ahead

The FDA NOL marks a major milestone in Boretechs technological advancement. The company remains committed to developing high-standard, globally competitive, and high-value recycling solutions, empowering the food, beverage, and packaging industries with safer, greener, and more sustainable technologies for their low-carbon transition.
